Question. My resume is currently in Microsoft Word format. Will I lose the special formatting when I copy and paste my resume?
Answer. When you copy and paste your resume, it is not possible to keep all the formatting aspects it had while it was in Word. The special fonts will be lost as well as any underlining, italics, bold letters, and any pictures or images included with your resume.
Keep in mind the most important thing with your resume is the content. Recruiters will find your resume most often with keywords included in your resume. Make sure you do a spell check. Once a recruiter identifies you as a possible prospect, they may follow up with you to ask for a Microsoft Word or PDF version of your resume.
Making sure your resume is easy to read is a good idea though. After you copy and paste your resume into the box for the pasted resume with our site, it's not a bad idea to scroll through the resume box and make sure everything looks ok and it's easily readable. If there are extra spaces or words that were separated that shouldn't have been, you can delete those spaces and make any appropriate changes so that the resume looks presentable. Your resume will never look as good in the Copied & Pasted form as it does in Microsoft Word form but that's ok; recruiters expect that.
